Most appropriate word of the day in a while

I'm not really much on the whole "word of the day" thing, but today's entry (Saturday, March 11, 2006) was just great - so few words sound so much like what they describe.

crapulous \KRAP-yuh-lus\, adjective
1. Suffering the effects of, or derived from, or suggestive of gross intemperance, especially in drinking; as, a crapulous stomach.
2. Marked by gross intemperance, especially in drinking; as, a crapulous old reprobate.

Crapulous is from Late Latin crapulosus, from Latin crapula, from Greek krapale, drunkenness and its consequences, nausea, sickness, and headache.

Nice. I guess that's why they say excessive drinking makes you feel like shit. :P
