Circuit City is switching to Linux... [g]

...for its point of sale systems - i.e. its computerized cash registers - in over 600 stores. That's thousands of 'em. They're also going to have handheld wireless POS systems - maybe to check inventory and prices while they're walking around the store? Not sure. I can't imagine they'd walk around and check people out.

I hate Circuit City as a store, but that's pretty nifty.


(P.S. Does anyone else find it mildly amusing that the abbreviation for Point of Sale is POS? No? That's just me? Ok, nevermind.)
