Hot Toddy - buttered rum - whatever! - not bad. [b]

So I took the recipe provided by jujubaba and then made some relatively minor modifications based on what I had seen in some other recipes, and because this is specifically for a cold/sore throat.

I stirred up about 3 tablespoons of butter and brown sugar on the stove, and added in a couple of shakes of cinnamon and about half as much nutmeg. I also threw in about a half dozen cloves. I mixed and heated and mixed until it was all nice (we're all out of vanilla extract, damnit!) and, uh, mixed. And then I boiled some water, put a couple of ounces of rum into a mug, added in maybe three teaspoons of the spice mixture and then poured in maybe a cup or so of water. Stirred. And yum. Good stuff. I think next time, though, more clove, and maybe add the spice and cloves and really really hot water to a cup, let it all really sit for a while, and then add the rum at the end right before drinking. The cloves really need more time to let their stuff out.

Anyhoo. There you go. Two thumbs up, even if I didn't have the lemon juice. (Which, honestly, I don't see helping the flavor.)

P.S. I blame all of the world's ills on CANADA. Yes. Including my ills too, like this damn flu. I wax most wrothful!
