Um... where to start? Well, first off, I have to say I'm having one of the best times I can remember for quite a while. I've spent a lot of time at home, I've spent a lot of time with my kids, and I've spent some time visiting with friends and family.
My brother and mother came over for Christmas and stayed several days, which was nice, I haven't seen them for a while. Speaking of Christmas, after a somewhat difficult and tiring Christmas Eve, we had a fantastic Christmas - the kids got a bunch of gifts they really loved, and we got a white Christmas (practically a blizzard - about 5 inches where we live, but as many as 18 inches just a little north and west of us). It was just really nice having the whole (immediate) family there, and I think everyone had a really good time. I know I did, I haven't had this much time with the kids for a long time.
On Friday my cousins (well, two of them, sisters) drove up and spent the day, which was nice. They're the ones I visited over Thanksgiving, so it hasn't been all that long since I've seen them, but it's always nice to see them again.
Tonight, after watching the most exciting Giants game in a long time (and just the most exciting football game I've see in a long time), I went and saw Da Vinci's Notebook with penchantnyc, saintlex, and their friend D. It was (not surprisingly) a fun night, and we went out for bubble tea after and D was really nice and treated us all on the spur of the moment.
Da Vinci's Notebook, for those of you not in the know, is an a capella comedy singing group, and a pretty talented bunch. They write their own music and lyrics and perform it all very well. They're always a lot of fun to watch, but I'd assume a lot less fun in a recorded state (a lot of the fun is the banter they have between themselves and the crowd, and the various crowd reactions and how they work off of them) which will probably doom them to just getting by and never hitting it big. (They're also apparently TMBG fans, which doesn't surprise me.)
That's about it, actually. I haven't done all that much, which is perfect because it's just what I wanted to do.
Incidentally, I'm going to try to get caught up on LJ as well - I've only been half-assedly reading it recently, and I've missed a lot of stuff. Sorry, all. Other than watching the Jets game tomorrow, and playing with the kids, I've got no plans - so hopefully I can spend some time on LJ getting up to date. I hope everyone's had a happy holiday so far!
