Can you... "become"... a Jew? Like, can you convert, like in Christianity, and become a born-again Jew, or do you have to actually be born to the faith like in some religions? Do they allow people to just declare themselves Jewish, or can you go through some sort of ceremony to be declared Jewish?
I'm just wondering, because I've never heard of someone becoming a Jew later in life until recently, and I was wondering if it was more just a mental state of Jewishness (I think I'm Jewish, therefore I am) or what.
Maybe they should make some sort of standardized Judaic test. The Judaic Aptitude Test. Each question is worth 20 points, fill in each circle completely and with a No. 2 pencil. Pass and you become a Jew; get a perfect score and you're made into a Rabbi.
