Passenger Jet Crashes into the Far Rockaways
(New York-WABC, November 12, 2001) ? A plane crashed Monday morning near Beach 129th Street and Newport Avenue, in the Rockaways, Queens.

Buildings are reportedly on fire in the neighborhood. Thick, black smoke could be seen. The plane was a Boeing 767, an American Airlines flight.

The Mayor's Office of Emergency Management has confirmed the plane was a Boeing 767, an American Airlines flight. The plane crashed at 9: 17 a.m. The city declared a Level One emergency mobilization for all of its emergency personnel. This plane was an inbound plane and there is no word on where it was coming from.

All three New York City airports were closed after the crash.

There is no word on how the plane went down and how many people were on this jet.
