Another reason I love Terry Jones

... But in its current usage, "terrorism" cannot by committed by a country. When the USA bombed the pharmaceutical factory in the Sunday on the mistaken advice from the CIA that it was a chemical weapons factory, that was not an act of terrorism. It was pretty stupid. The resulting shortage of medicines probably killed thousands of people, but it was not an "act of terrorism" within the current meaning of the word, because the USA government did it officially. And they apologized for it. That's very important. No self-respecting terrorist ever apologizes. It's one of the few things that distinguishes legitimate governments from terrorists.

So, it was really difficult for President Bush to know whom to bomb after the World Trade Center outrage. If a country like Bermuda or New Zealand had done it then it would have been simple -- he could have bombed the Bahamas and Australia. It must have been really irritating that the people who perpetrated such a horrendous catastrophe were not a nation. What's more, terrorists -- unlike a country -- won't keep still in one place so you can bomb them. Terrorists have this annoying habit of moving around and sometimes even leaving the country. It's all very un-American (apart from the training, that is).

Heh, the man is a genius.

That's a quote from his book, Terry Jones's War on the War on Terror: Observations and Denunciations by a Founding Member of Monty Python. Now if only the title was shorter...

Sponsor me! AIDS WALK

(I just copy/pasted this from the sample email, blah blah blah. Long and short: I'm doing the AIDS WALK this year, and need sponsors, so sponsor me already. Bear in mind that not sponsoring me is actually a sin in over 86 religions, as I understand it. It also makes you a bad person, arguably even an outright poopie head. The link is at the bottom of the page. If you've got any questions, ask me, and I'll pretend like I've got a clue and know the real answer.)

I am writing to let you know that I have registered for AIDS Walk New York and am very excited about the event. This is a very important issue to me so I have set an ambitious fundraising goal. I want to do as much as I can to make a difference in the lives of men, women, and children affected by HIV and AIDS. Even though there has been a lot of publicity about drug treatments which are prolonging some people's lives, they don't work for everyone and there is still no cure in sight. Moreover, young people are still getting infected at alarmingly high rates.

GMHC and about 40 other AIDS organizations in the area get the money from the AIDS Walk. It's clear that we need more services and more prevention programs than ever before.

I want your help. Will you please sponsor me for the AIDS Walk? Just click on the website address below to enter my personalized web page and charge your donation. Thank you, in advance, for supporting this important cause and for showing that you join me in wanting to end this epidemic.
