Teefs done

Went to the dentist today and got my cavities filled, and don't need to go back for another 6 months - yay.

Before that, I had lunch at the Gramercy Tavern - good stuff. I had the braised rabbit with olives, garlic, rosemary and mashed potatoes. It was prepared perfectly, or at least better than any other time I've had rabbit - delicate, soft, juicy, and very flavorful. The sauce, a light sort of gravy with the chunks of olives and garlic, was tasty and added to it without overpowering it. The mashed potatoes were simple, but again, prepared very nicely. All in all an excellent lunch, although the service was so-so once we were seated and the price was high ($22 for my dish).

The four fillings were uneventful; the dentist told me at the end that it was a little more difficult than normal and I had so many because of my teeth - they were in good shape but very rough, with deep grooves, and that makes them more susceptible to cavities. Still, he said, I was taking excellent care of them and he said to just keep on doing what I've been doing. The entire right half of my jaw and mouth is numb and it's really difficult for me to drink or spit (the right side of my upper lip is completely numb and so when I try to move my mouth into the drink or spit positions, only 3/4 of it responds - so I get this weird grimace on my face. I feel like one of the Joker's victims, except one who survived. Sheesh.). He didn't use any anesthesia for the 3rd and 4th cavities, though, so the left side of my jaw is fine. (They weren't root canals, only fillings, and he did ask if I was sure I didn't want it before he proceeded, and told me to just let him know if I needed any. The last one hurt a bit, but not that much, and it stopped hurting almost immediately.)

So that's that. Good lunch and good dentist's visit and I'm happy. I'm a little out of it - but happy (took a nap on the bus and I'm still not quite awake yet... wondering if the anesthetic is contributing to it).
