Trend: polls-only journals

Now, everyone's seen the various polls and quizzes going around LJ, with the stupid little icons and the link to get everyone else to take them too. Things like "What Backstreet Boy do you scream most like while being tortured?" and "What shade of white are you?". Hell, if you're like everyone out there, you've taken a few. None of that's new.

What I've been noticing more and more, though, are journals where the owner posts (or shows in their userinfo) about how their journal is strictly friends-only... but then proceeds to post polls multiple times a week, open to the public.

All I can say is that I hope they're trying to keep their journal hidden behind a protective layer of crap, because it sure as hell doesn't make them appealing to look at. I wish they were full friends-only, they'd be a lot more pleasant for the public, and wouldn't involve harming any children and/or small forest creatures.

What's next, an LJ style with banner and pop up ads? C'mon. Your journal is insipid enough without posting nothing but the polls.
