I'M BACK!!!

Heh. My DSL line's finally up and running again, so I've returned to the ranks of the internet-enabled, and boy, does it feel good.

I looked through my friends' list briefly, and saw that I'm somewhere around 250 entries behind, give or take. Sorry, but I don't think I'll be getting to all of them, no matter how much I'd like to. There aren't enough hours in the day. Or night.

Anyways, here's a little recap of the past week or so:

WinXP

Had a massive case of insomnia last night, so I wiped out my WinME system and installed a clean copy of WinXP.

It's.... chewy. That's the best word I can think of for it. Looks too much like a Mac, but it is more attractive than Win2k or WinME.

Tonight, I guess I install all of my old apps and see what breaks and what works. Hopefully more will work than not.

Wheee

Finished my new script - the Netsaint No-Notification Notification Script. I like the title best of all. ;)

It basically checks the netsaint status log and sends out an email if anything has notifications or checks turned off, and also includes a list of the current comments.

We have a problem, you see, where people will disable notifications as they work on something, and then forget to turn them back on - so when stuff breaks, we don't get told. D'OH!

So now, thanks to the magic of Perl, cron, and me, we get a notification every 9 am if any notification/check is turned off.

It's such an ugly looking script, but it works quite nicely. Must post it on my site.

Wild and crazy release day

Release a whole bunch of software on my site... NANS 0.6, the No-Notification Notification script, and two new plugins (check_disks.pl, an enhanced disk usage checker, and check_rrdtool.pl, which will check rrd files against either/both a min and max threshold).

HAH!!!

Awesome. I'm watching Smallville - pretty lame overall, but look at Clark's mom! It's the old Lana Lang from the movies! HAH! That's so awesome. I'm glad I happened to look up at that second, I've been setting up my XP box and not really watching the TV.

The new Lana Lang looks totally wrong, but she's cute. Still, that's not a good enough excuse - she's wrong. Damnit.

Some sort of fat-sucking vampire tonight. What a weird episode to start with. I wonder if they're all this weird.
