I AM 62% GEEK.

Nerd, Freak, Geek, Dweeb. Sound familiar? That's okay, cause I will be the richestperson at my 15th year high-school reunion. If a "con" isn't happening that weekend.

Take the PUNK/POSER Test at Fuali.com!

Thanks to fruitcake for the linkage. Incidentally, the test sucks. I haven't worked for "a" failed dotcom, I've worked for a bunch, damnit. I also have seen all of the computers I've owned because I do my own hosting. And l33t speak is for losers. :P

I need to write my own damn test for one of these things.

Java Servlets on NT

Anyone have any experience with, or know anyone who has experience with ServletExec 3.0 running under IIS on Windows? It is made by a company called New Atlanta, and is a Java Servlet engine.

If you do, please holler, I know someone who needs some help w/ it. Thanks.

Oh my GOD

I splurged and used some of the money I'm saving on daycare for a new soundcard. I've wanted one for a year now, since I wanted to get this computer with a SB Live card, but the place I was working for ordered it with the cheapo default card instead, by accident. (It was something like a $20 option, and they DID spring for the high-end GeForce 2 GTS card, which was a $200 option, so it wasn't the money.)

So, anyways, I pop in the new soundcard - the SoundBlaster Audigy X-Gamer. It got rave reviews from Gamespot and Computer Gaming World. Holy freaking CRAPOLA! It's AMAZING. Seriously, the sound difference is mind boggling. Listening to mp3's is like switching from scratchy over-used audio tapes with a pair of $5 speakers to perfect-condition cd's with high-end speakers. I'm well and truly amazed.

I tried playing Heretic II with the new card. YOWZA! I can hear all kinds of little details that just weren't there before. And on top of that, now I get EAX "environmental effects" where the sound is modified to reflect the environment - i.e. when you run into a cave everything echoes, when you're underwater it all gets to be this weird, um, underwatery sound... and DAMN it sounds good.

Consider this a 3-thumb-up review for the SB Audigy series. It cost me $99 to buy brand new, and it was probably worth $200-300, as far as I'm concerned. (Note: I don't have $200-300, $99 was already stretching my wallet further then it was meant to stretch, but...)

Ugh, I've wasted so much money. Ever since my birthday I've just been spending money like crazy. This is dangerous. I need to stop. Christ. But hey, this one was worth it. :) :) :)
