I was a stupid idiot and without thinking did a "killall" on a solaris box. I'm way too fucking used to using linux. Damnit.
So the box is down. It's a solaris box, so if you didn't take the hint in that, it's a database server. Yay. Fortunately it wasn't a critical one, but still, damnit. I don't make stupid mistakes like that.
Ethan accepted NANS and stuck it on the netsaint.org site in the contributions section, and since he did that I've had a good 40 or 50 people check it out. That's not an earth-shattering number, of course, but it's not half bad considering I was getting maybe 1 a day before then.
AOL sucks. The GAIM devs are now saying that they recommend you update from CVS on a regular basis to stay up to date with the latest changes to keep GAIM working. YAY. I really want to grab the latest CVS tree every day and rebuild it from scratch just so I can use it for a few hours. Christ.
It's not their fault, of course, but it still annoys the hell out of me. I'm using AIM on windoze again now because of this. Sigh.
Gotta love it. A few of the devs were talking about celebrity sightings. As one put it: "We're in Manhattan, you see a celeb every day here". They listed off a few good ones... Gary Oldman, Jack Nicholson, Liv Tyler, a few others. The one that I saw that made the biggest impression on me was seeing Penn (from Penn and Teller) on the street one day. I've seen a bunch of others but honestly I can't remember who. He wasn't being entirely facetious when he said you see one every day here. I've seen dozens. Most of them you just sort of shrug and ignore.
...think I'm going to get the next revision of my image gallery script done, I've finally gotten the inspiration to work on it. Growing more and more complex and unwieldy as time goes on. Rock on!!! ;)
Actually I need to do some spring-cleaning in the script first, then add new features. Must clean before bloating. Blerg. Cleaning is boring. In real life, too. :P
