You'll have to excuse my excitement, but I'm on vacation until the 9th of January - that's 2 weeks and a day, straight, and the single longest period (by several days) that I've ever taken off of work, to the best of my knowledge. Last time I had this much time off was when I was in college, I think (and I didn't really have that time completely off, for various reasons). Heck, I don't think I had this much time off when I got laid off that time - I think I had found and started my new job before I hit the two week mark (and even if I'm wrong and it was three weeks, well, when you're interviewing at 2-4 places a day, every day, it's hardly time off).
I have no idea what I'm going to do! (Well, not entirely true: I've got Christmas, and 3 separate events related to that, plus New Year's, with an event for that, and then I've also got 3 contracts I wasn't able to get done this week, which means I've got to finish them next week during my vacation...)
So first off: if anyone else has any time off (or any nights free) and wants to hang out, I've got a million movies to see and restaurants to try and am certainly up for just hanging out as well! Now's the time, people. ;)
Secondly: I'm thinking of biking around some - it's cold, admittedly, but I haven't ridden my bike in something like 2 months and I could use some exercise. I was thinking of exploring neighborhoods I haven't spent much time in - maybe places like Prospect Heights and Carroll Gardens, nearby, and then perhaps lugging it on the subway and exploring some more distant nabes as well... I want to explore, though. Considering that I've lived in or near NYC my entire life, there's way too much I don't know about it.
Thirdly: I can finally take some time and tag up nyc_cuisine and get that in order. Not that it's in disarray, but I want it tagged up all nice and neat. And maybe, just maybe... meet, anyone?
Fourthly: holy crap, I can sleep in, and actually not work. Woohoo! I intend to get some serious couch potato and computer-chair potato time in, spend some time cooking, maybe, and do all of the little cleaning and organizing chores I've been putting off due to lack of time. It'll be nice to have all of that stuff done, even if it's not actually relaxing to do.
(Fifthly: get over this goddamned cold... I've been sick for over a week now, and I'm getting... well... sick of it. I intend to get lots of rest and drink lots of tea and orange juice and spend a lot of time in front of a roaring fire. (Roaring, I said, d'y'hear? ROARING!) Of course, I have three events in the next 3 days... d'oh. Well, after that.)
My mind boggles. 10 years of working, and I've never taken this much time off. I dunno what to do with it. I guess there are worse problems to have. ;)
